The marc boutin architectural collaborative inc. is a collaborative design studio that explores cultural issues related to the contemporary city. By working at a range of scales including furniture, interactive installations, architecture and urban design, the firm develops residential, commercial, cultural and public projects. Exhibitions include Texture City and Substance over Spectacle. Projects currently under design include the Eau Claire Public space, an expansion and renovation of the Epcor Centre for Performing Arts, an addition to the Varscona Theatre, and the Calgary Centre for Global Community. Ideas developed by the firm include Negotiated Space, City as Verb, Anticipatory Infrastructure, Emergent Public Territory, Shifting Amenityscape and Ecology of Experiences. Awards held by the firm include the 2002 Prix de Rome, 3 Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence, a 2006 Progressive Architecture award, a 2005 Mayor’s Urban Design Award (Calgary), and 4 Prairie Design awards.
